Deluxe Villa: you are paying for service, not square metres

Top floors, a 24-hour butler and private lifts. The floor area is, on Crown's own figures, slightly smaller than the suite below it.

Crown calls the Deluxe Villa "truly palatial" and "Perth's most exclusive accommodation". The facts: it sits on the top floors of the tower, with city and sunset views from a separate living room and bedroom, both with floor-to-ceiling windows. A 24-hour butler, private express lifts and Ferragamo amenities set it apart from everything below.

The inclusions list is the longest in the tower: Crystal Club lounge access for two, valet parking for one vehicle, a fully stocked personal bar (charged), an oversized bathroom with double vanities and a guest powder room, a pressing service for up to two garments per day with four hours' notice, an executive desk with a Mac laptop on request, and a hair straightener on request.

The size curiosity

Crown lists the Villa at 102 m² and the Premier Club View Suite at 105 m². I mention it because people assume the top category is the biggest. Here it is not, at least on paper. What you buy in the Villa is the height, the privacy of the lifts and a person whose job is to look after you. For some guests that is worth a great deal; for others the club suite is the smarter choice.

The awards angle

Crown's awards page lists "Best Hotel Suite Global: Crystal Villas" at the 2018 International Hotel & Property Awards and a 2017 award for "the Chairman's Villa". Those names do not match the bookable "Deluxe Villa" exactly, so I would not assume the prize-winning suite is the one in your booking.

For

  • 24-hour butler and private express lifts.
  • Top floors with city and sunset views.
  • Club access and valet for one car included.
  • Pressing service and turndown.

Against

  • Slightly smaller than the club suite on paper.
  • Two guests only.
  • Award names refer to villas that may not be this category.

If you are weighing the two top rooms, I compare them on the Premier Club View Suite page.
