What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. In practice that means:
- A "skip to the review" link at the top of every page for keyboard and screen-reader users.
- Text and background colours chosen for readable contrast; links are underlined.
- Every form field has a visible label; required fields are marked in the label text and errors are announced.
- Dates are typed as plain text (YYYY-MM-DD) rather than through a date picker that some assistive technology handles badly.
- Every illustration has a text description, and each is captioned as an illustration rather than a photograph.
- Pages work without JavaScript for reading; the form falls back to a standard submission.
- No autoplaying video or sound, and no content that flashes.
- The layout reflows down to small phone screens without sideways scrolling, and text can be enlarged.
Known limits
- The map on the getting-there page is an embedded Google Map. Its controls are provided by Google and are not fully keyboard friendly; the address and a plain directions link are always shown beside it.
- Tables on room and price pages scroll sideways inside their own box on very narrow screens.
- Official documents we link to, such as Crown's PDFs, are outside our control.
