Crown Perth runs one of the larger events operations in Western Australia, and several of its venues are tied to Crown Towers. I review them from a guest's angle: if you are planning a wedding or a conference here, what does the hotel side offer, and what should you pin down in writing?
The two venues tied to the tower
Crown Ballroom. Crown calls it "Perth's newest and most prestigious event space": pillarless, with custom carpets, high ceilings, cream panelling and crystal chandeliers, plus a pre-function area with a terrace. The corporate page says it suits "a gala event for 1500"; the weddings page says up to 2,400 standing or 1,410 seated, and elsewhere "a grand celebration of 1,400 guests or an intimate wedding of 200". Ask the events team for the figure for your exact layout.
The Great Lawn. An outdoor space of 1,800 square metres beside the Crown Towers resort pools, with the Swan River and the city skyline as a backdrop. Crown offers it for cocktail receptions, themed dinners, group activities and wedding ceremonies.
The other venues
| Venue | Standing | Seated | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crown Ballroom | Up to 2,400 | 1,410 | Pillarless; terrace off the pre-function area |
| Grand Ballroom | Up to 1,800 | 1,240 | Pillarless, contemporary |
| Astral | Up to 1,000 | 550 | Onyx, marble and leather finishes |
| Botanicals | 300 | 140 | The most intimate ballroom-style space |
| Mansions | 150 | 60 | Private driveway, gated entrance, indoor and outdoor areas |
| Crystal Club | — | — | Level 15 lounge, hired whole or in part; private dining room |
Crown's weddings page also lists a "Wedding Venue – 5 Star Hotel" win at the 2020 Brides Choice Awards Perth.
Room blocks for guests
For a wedding party, the twin rooms matter more than the ballroom. The Deluxe Twin and Premier Twin each take four guests in two queen beds, and connecting rooms are listed on request for the Deluxe King and Deluxe Twin. For the couple, the Premier Club View Suite has a dining table and powder room for getting ready with friends, and includes the Crystal Club for two.
Remember the check-out rule: late check-out is not available on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays, which is when most weddings are. If your guests will want a slow Sunday, negotiate it as part of the room block rather than hoping on the day.
What to ask the events team
- The confirmed capacity for your layout (banquet, cocktail, theatre) — the published figures vary.
- Whether The Great Lawn has a wet-weather alternative held for your date.
- Whether a room-block rate includes late check-out on a weekend.
- Which car park your guests should use, and whether valet can be pre-paid.
- Whether your date clashes with an Optus Stadium event, which can bring road restrictions.
For
- Large pillarless ballrooms.
- An outdoor lawn beside the tower's pools.
- Venues from 60 to 2,400 guests.
- Club suite well suited to a wedding party.
Against
- Capacity figures differ between Crown's own pages.
- No weekend late check-out by default.
- Stadium event days can affect access.
