The Deluxe Twin is the room I would point most families towards. Crown lists it for four people in two queen beds — not two singles — inside the same 47 m² footprint as the king rooms. It keeps the large work desk and the chaise lounge, which matters more than it sounds: with four people, a second place to sit that is not a bed changes how a room feels by the second evening.
The bathroom has double vanities, a separate rain shower and a deep bath with a television set in. Two basins and a shower that is not over the bath are what stop a family morning turning into a queue.
Connecting rooms
Crown lists "connecting room available upon request" for this category. For families with teenagers, two connecting twins or a twin plus a king can be a better plan than a suite: two bathrooms and two doors. A request is not a guarantee, so put it in writing when you book.
Things to check
The Crown Spa does not admit children under 16, including the aqua retreat, and pool daybeds and cabanas are hired to adults. The main pool area is open to guests, and Crown's Poolside Bar & Grill page mentions a water playground for children. Epicurean's weekend breakfast is limited to Crown hotel guests, which works in your favour if you are staying.
For
- Four guests in two queen beds.
- Two basins and a separate shower.
- Connecting rooms on request.
- Same space as the king rooms.
Against
- No view promise.
- Spa is closed to under-16s.
- Poolside furniture hire is adults-only.
If the view matters to the adults, the Premier Twin is the same room with the river promised.
